Cleethorpes Beech, East Lincolnshire
The beech here is noted for being clean and inviting, especially for those wishing to have a good old-fashioned day at the beech building sand castles, walking down the pier, treating the children to a donkey ride and perhaps finishing the day with some fish and chips.
Ross Castle, East Lincolnshire
Ross castle, which is no more than 9 minutes’ walk away from our bed and breakfast in East Lincolnshire, is an interesting place to visit. It was built by the railway company in the mid 1800’s as a mock castle to attract visitors and holiday makers to the mile-long Victorian promenade, therefore increasing profits to the railway company. When it came to naming this interesting sight in East Lincolnshire, they looked no further than one of their own and named it after the railway’s company secretary Mr. Edward Ross.
Dudley the Donkey
Along the East Lincolnshire promenade of Cleethorpes stands a monument that differs from your usual monumental tribute. Cast in the form of a donkey in honour of Glady’s Nuttall who brought the first ever donkey rides to Cleethorpes beech in East Lincolnshire, this monument has been here since 2012. Despite it being prior to second world war when Glady’s and her husband, once mayor, began the venture, it has been a familiar feature to be seen at Cleethorpes beech ever since. It is worth a look, as children can sit on Dudley for a photograph and it is situated in the local gardens that is also well worth the visit.
